The royal Fortress of Chinon was the meeting place of Joan of Arc and Charles VII, built on a rocky outcrop with magnificent views of the Vienne and the city's rooftops. With ramparts dotted by many defensive towers, its distinctive silhouette makes it unique and recognizable.
Since April 2019, the fortress invites you to experience a spectacular augmented visit and go back in time with the HistoPad, combining augmented reality, 3D and geolocation.
Among other stages of this immersive journey, visitors will be able to take a seat at the Christmas banquet of 1172 in the Palace of Henri II Plantagenet, attend the visit of the Pope's emissaries to the five highest Templar dignitaries detained in Chinon in 1307, or visit rooms that are now destroyed.
