For two centuries, the history of the royal Castle of Amboise was intimately connected with France’s own illustrious history. Splendid palace ofKing Charles VIII and King François I of the Renaissance, and burial site of the iconic Leonard da Vinci, whose 500th birthday is being celebrated this year (1519 – 2019),it is testimony to the profound changes that occurred in Europe in the XVth and XVIth centuries.
Beginning on February 1, 2019, equipped with HistoPads that are given to them at the entrance of the castle, visitors are invited to scan the medallions placed in several rooms of the tour.On the tablet screen, they will see the objects, furniture, tapestries and other Renaissance decor that are now gone, but are completely reconstructed in a 360° view.
Using 3D reconstruction and Augmented Reality, the furnishings of some of the rooms have been re-imagined for two periods of the Renaissance: 1495, when the “Noblemen of the Guard” of King Charles VIII returned victoriously from the Naples expedition, and 1518, at the beginning of the reign of François I.
